Senior Product Manager

Role Overview:
CricViz has established itself as the market leader in the collection, analysis and dissemination of data across the world’s leading cricket competitions. We are now looking to develop a new suite of data driven products for the cricket market to support the next stage of our growth strategy. The business is looking to hire a senior product manager who can lead the development of these new products, ensuring that we develop user-friendly products based on our customers’ needs and competitive market intelligence.

Key Responsibilities:
Working with the support of the Product Director, take the lead in the management of the end to end process of bringing new data driven products to market. This should include:

  • Overseeing the process of development of the product specification and business aims based on internal and external client feedback, and then cascade that specification into a clear scope of work that can be delivered by the technical team
  • Developing the project plan for product development and working with the Product Director and Head of Engineering to ensure that the project plan is fully resourced
  • Working inclusively and collaboratively, coordinating input and orchestrating across the User Experience team, the data science team and the engineering team to develop the product against the agreed project plan
  • Ensure that there is timely, accurate and user friendly reporting of progress of all products against the agreed development plan. This should include
  • Leading the process for reporting progress against plan including the use of appropriate tracking tools to monitor progress against plan and budget and identify and manage risks
  • Embed the use of suitable task management software such as Jira in the overall product development process, and champion the use of those products across the product and engineering team

Ensure that there is appropriate life cycle management across all of CricViz’s products. This should include:

  • Working with the Head of Customer Support to ensure that there is appropriate customer support for all new products from the day of launch
  • Working with the Commercial team to ensure that the benefits of all new products are fully understood and fully captured in our sales collateral and go to market strategy
  • Working with our client and account management teams to capture feedback on our products, and ensure that this feedback are reflected in suitable development strategies for each product
  • Ensure that there are appropriate processes in place to manage and restrict access to our products across our customer base to support the onboarding of new customers and limit access of departing customers

Ensure an integrated approach to Product Management across Ellipse, including:

  • Taking a proactive approach to sharing best practice in product development, product design and customer management across the wider Ellipse group
  • Helping to foster, recruit and build a leading product management team to help achieve our product goals
  • Identify key learnings from other Ellipse sports and ensure that these are reflected within Ellipse’s product development strategy
  • Understand the product development pipeline across other sports and work with the other product teams and the engineering team to ensure the most effective allocation of shared resource across the business

Key Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of best practice in product development and management, ideally gained in a business which collects and disseminates large amounts of data from different sources
  • Good technical knowledge and skills. Experience working in a Linux shell, using MySQL and writing new script would be highly desirable. Experience working with Python and APIs would be a major advantage
  • Adept at using different product development and management tools for different purposes, including technical tools to support wireframing/ux, roadmapping, user stories, feedback collection etc. and management tools to support task management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with a particular skill in simplifying complex information into simple formats and an ability to “translate” between technical and business requirements to act as a go between for technical and commercial teams
  • A keenness to learn, work independently and in a semi-remote environment, managing your time effectively to meet deadlines and objectives
  • A passion for sport, and cricket in particular, would be highly advantageous, as would be experience in working with sports data.
